Does Our Government Hate the Middle Class?

I have a theory; it is not a proven theory, but one which offers an explanation into what is happening in America. More specifically, what is happening to the middle class in America. In feudal times, powerful landowners, or nobles, controlled their societies through the oppression of the poor. These serfs worked the land, paid taxes, and left any major political decisions to the powers that be. These nobles understood if they gave the serfs just enough to get by, they eventually would come to rely on these handouts. This society functioned for many years without a middle class—this class was virtually extinct.

These same feudal principles are slowly creeping into our society today. Through heavy taxation and manipulation, the middle class today is fading into extinction. The political forces which govern our current society thrive on the idea of oppression. The poor and middle class are manipulated into believing that decisions are made for their well being. When in reality, they are given “just enough” to get by. The more they put their hand out, the more they are controlled. It is a vicious cycle.

Our current government hates the middle class. The middle class represents everything that America used to be: opportunity, hope, potential. These values can create greatness—and greatness to our administration is a threat—greatness cannot be oppressed. We must be aware this is happening. Higher taxes suck the life from the middle class. Every new government program that we accept puts our hands out a little bit farther. This is all by design. If our administration can get people to think that they need and rely upon the government, all hope is lost. The extinction of the middle class is predicated on our need for the government. The more we need, the more feudal we become.

We must resist the urge to give in. The middle class must remain self reliant. Government programs grab our short term emotions, but long term they are oppressive. They strengthen our reliance on the nobles. The nobles do not want people to progress. Progression is destructive to their power and control. We must always remember that no matter who we are or where we live—we are full of potential. Potential has always been the life blood of the American dream. Without it, the middle class will become extinct.
