Do You Need to Lose Stomach and Love Handle Fat?

If you have a spare type around your midsection and strongly agree that you need to lose stomach and love handle fat, then there are ways and techniques on how to do it without breaking the bank or changing your lifestyle forever. Stomach fat and love handles are the slang terms for what doctors call oblique fat. A lot of adults will suffer from it at same point in their life and it is a sign of not enough exercising and the wrong diet. The area that is affected are the sides of our tummies. People may or may not also develop fat at the front.

First of all there is some bad news. All the products that you see on the shopping channels that claim to get rid of love handles do not work. I am talking about tummy flattening machines or ab belts. You would effectively have to work them for 24 hours a day seven days a week to even see the slightest bit of difference.



The good news is by exercising for approximately 30 minutes, four times a week and changing your diet, love handles and stomach fat can disappear and stay off. Notice how I refer to changing your diet and I don't talk about going on a diet. This is the most important aspect to remember if trying to lose weight whilst exercising at the same time.

This is because we still need enough calorie intake to give us energy for the work out and we will do this simply by changing what we eat, not how much we eat. Once you have read this and been able to form a suitable eating plan for yourself then you can move onto the exercises.


When it comes to the exercises you may be tempted just to dive straight in and start exercising on the stomach fat and love handles only. You won't see any results, simply because these exercises must be combined with an all over body work out. The all over body work out will allow our metabolism to raise and therefore burn more energy. Once again Mike Geary gives more details on an effective work out plan in his book. Exercises that specifically target the love handles that you can include in your all body work out are trunk twists, leg flutters and twist crunches.

So to recap what we have learnt:

If you need to lose stomach and love handle fat then a change of diet and an all over body work out is essential.
